Britain OLY TAE Cook Appeal
FILE This Saturday May 5, 2012 file photo shows Britain’s taekwondo athlete Aaron Cook having his scoring vest adjusted during the European Taekwondo Championships, at the Manchester Regional Arena, Manchester, England. British taekwondo star Aaron Cook says it is incredible and ironic that he has been denied a spot on the Olympic team despite being top-ranked in his division. In his first comments on Monday May 28, 2012 since learning he was being left off the team earlier this month, Cook described taekwondo as my whole life and said he hoped such injustice would never happen to any other British athlete.I could not believe what I (had) read, Cook said after being told by Great Britain Taekwondo officials he would not be fighting at the London Olympics. He appealed the decision and the selection team met again _ but still refused to pick him. I now have no option but to request that the British Olympic Association review the selection, he said in a statement. Cook came narrowly close to winning a bronze at the Beijing Olympics and is considered Britains best chance for a taekwondo gold medal.(AP Photo/Jon Super, File)
